A true symbol of the seaside town of Dieppe that you cannot miss.
The Dieppe museum, located in a fortified castle built from the 14th century, exhibits the history of this city through its objects and representations. It has a collection of 25,000 multidisciplinary objects, of which around 2000 are exhibited in around fifteen rooms. It bears witness to the maritime wealth of the city and its port in its broadest sense. Temporary exhibitions are present in two rooms.
A century ago, in 1923, the castle and the Dieppe museum merged to form one. Located on a site that combines a historic monument and a museum, the exhibition explores the various aspects of its identity.
The Château-Museum of Dieppe is a royal fortress, a revolutionary prison, a military site and a museum from 1923. It offers a vast retrospective of its rich and turbulent history.
An in-depth and powerful analysis between the past and the future of our common heritage.
